Hendrik Weber has been active under the moniker of Pantha du Prince since 2002. Weber started playing guitar at thirteen, first playing bass guitar in rock outfits. He later moved onto electronic based music, first via a 16-channel studio mixer, combining drones with samples and a computer. These early experiments formed the basis for both his experimental music as Panthel and Glühen 4 as well as his techno as Pantha Du Prince.

Many of his releases garnered considerable acclaim. His most recent release Elements of Light (Rough Trade, 2013) is a collaboration with a bell equipped ensemble from Norway named The Bell Laboratory. On his previous album Black Noise (Rough Trade, 2010) he collaborated with Panda Bear from Animal Collective and Tyler Pope, among others. His work prior to that was released on the german Dial label. He has remixed Depeche Mode’s ‘Lilian’, Phantom/Ghost’s ‘Relax It's Only A Ghost’ and performs live sets as well as DJs. Pantha du Prince's interest in collaborations shows his eagerness to combine electronics and acoustics, technology and nature.

'Music is always already there, even without humans.'
- Pantha du Prince

Pantha du Prince's definition of music sets no boundaries. To him music slumbers in all matter. His mission is to render audible what is unheard and unheard of. In his use of field recordings and improvisation nature and technology become indistinguishable. Narratives are driven by diverse acoustic designs of which the tiny details form organic phrases. Electro-acoustic environments move from concrete shapes to complex harmonies, from sweet melodies to random noise, and silence. The fundamentals, the walls, the roof, they all sound. And it is up to the audience to become a part of it.
