For the 4th edition of its annual festival, on May 8th 2016 Showroom of Contemporary Sound Zagreb hosts a special programme in collaboration with 4DSOUND at the Spatial Sound Institute in Budapest.
Showroom of Contemporary Sound is annual spring gathering in Zagreb dedicated to exploration, process and development with an international community of musicians, musical explorers, sound artists, composers and performers. The Showroom encourages collaborations and dialogue between artists, transgressing limits between genres, encouraging creativity, stimulating a critical but open approach that tends to appreciate differences and searching for new understandings and sound experiences.
The festival organises a special one-day trip for its audience and professional community from Zagreb to visit the Spatial Sound Institute in Budapest. The programme includes three new live shows by Croatian multimedia artist Davor Sanvincenti and Hungarian artists Gábor Lázár and Judit Emese Konopás, developed during recent Artist Residencies at the Spatial Sound Institute. Composer and 4DSOUND founder Paul Oomen presents a sound sculpture transforming P.I. Tchaikovsky’s 6th Symphony ‘Pathetique’ and French composer and multimedia artist Fraction reworks Iannis Xenakis’ monumental work ‘Persepolis’. The programme will open with an introductory lecture about the 4DSOUND system by Paul Oomen.
